Privacy Policy

The short version

QuietPDFcompresses PDFs entirely in your browser. We don’t upload your files. We don’t have a database that stores them. But — because this is a real website — we use a few standard tools to keep it running: cookies for analytics, advertising to keep the lights on, and a vault that lives in your own browser’s storage. This page is the long version.

What stays on your device

When you compress a PDF, the file is processed locally in your browser tab and never sent to our servers. The compressed output is delivered straight to your downloads folder. Until you delete it from the in-browser Vault (or 2 hours pass — whichever comes first), the compressed file is kept in your browser’s local storage. We can’t see what’s in it.

Theme preferences (light/dark) and a small engagement counter (used to time the donation prompt) are also kept in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device.

What we collect

Analytics — Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use QuietPDF: page views, which compression level is most popular, whether the site works on different devices. Google Analytics drops cookies and may collect your (anonymized) IP address, browser and device info, pages visited, time on site, and referrer.

Google’s privacy practices: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out site-by-site via the Google Analytics Opt-Out browser add-on.

Advertising — Google AdSense

QuietPDF is free, and ads help keep it that way. We use Google AdSense to display ads on some pages. AdSense and its partners (including DoubleClick) may use cookies to serve and measure ads, personalize ads based on your previous visits to other sites (where permitted by consent), and detect fraud and abuse.

In the EU, UK, and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before allowing personalized advertising. You can change your consent at any time using the link in our cookie banner. You can also opt out of personalized ads at Google’s Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices.

Donations — Ko-fi

When you click the “Support on Ko-fi” link, you leave QuietPDFand go to Ko-fi. Anything that happens there is governed by Ko-fi’s privacy policy, not this one. We don’t process payments and never see your card details.

QuietPDF uses two categories of cookies:

If you’re in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, you’ll see a consent banner the first time you visit. Your choice is remembered for future visits.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU, UK, Switzerland, California, or anywhere with comprehensive data-protection laws, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request its deletion, object to processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email us at . Note: because QuietPDFdoesn’t have accounts or store personal data on a server we control, we may not have any of your personal data to begin with — but we’ll always confirm.

Children’s privacy

QuietPDFis not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when laws or features change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For substantial changes, we’ll add a banner on the home page for two weeks.
